An automatic movement-path selection system for a work machine that performs prescribed work while moving in an automated manner. Said automatic movement-path selection system includes a storage unit, a current-location acquisition means, and a movement-path search unit. For each of a number of prescribed movement paths each corresponding to a target work region, at least a movement-path section that extends a prescribed distance towards a work start location from a movement-path start location is recorded in the storage unit. The current-location acquisition means acquires the current location of the work machine. By using at least the aforementioned movement-path sections to determine whether or not each movement path satisfies a given criterion, the movement-path search unit searches the prescribed movement paths corresponding to the respective target work regions for a movement path that satisfies said criterion, said criterion being that, from the current location of the work machine at which said work machine is preparing for entry, it is possible for the work machine to use forward movement only to enter, at an entry point located between the abovementioned movement-path start location and the abovementioned work start location, along an entry path that is set such that the work machine would enter in the same direction as the direction in which the work machine would move when moving past the aforementioned entry point along the movement path. |
