PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining hollow nanoparticles with a high yield by an industrially advantageous process using an alkali metal silicate such as sodium silicate as a silica source.SOLUTION: A production method of hollow nanoparticles is provided, which comprises: adding a catalyst selected from acids or alkalis to a hydrophilic solvent containing calcium carbonate particles having an average particle diameter of 500 nm or less, an alkali metal silicate, and a nonionic surfactant to obtain composite particles comprising the calcium carbonate, the nonionic surfactant, and the alkali metal silicate; and then removing the calcium carbonate particles from the composite particles by an acid treatment. The nonionic surfactant is polyoxyethylene nonylphenyl ether or hexafluoro isopropanol; and the hydrophilic solvent is ethanol. |
