PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detector capable of detecting abnormality of position data in which one rotation is divided into smaller segments.SOLUTION: The position detector includes: two-phase sine wave signal generation sections 1-3 each of which generates a two-phase sine wave signal which varies according to the movement of a moving object at a cycle number different from each other; position data generation sections 4-6 each of which performs an interpolation processing on the two-phase sine wave signal to generate position data having a predetermined resolution; position data synthesis sections 7 and 8 each of which synthesizes the position data each having different cycle number; position data difference calculation sections 9 and 10 each of which calculates difference between present position data and previous position data; position data difference accumulation sections 11 and 12 each of which performs cumulative addition of position data difference values; consistency determination sections 13 and 14 each of which compares difference accumulation value between lower position data and upper synthesis position data and determines as abnormal if any inconsistency is detected. |
