A medium management system comprising a medium processing device that processes media having unique identification codes and a management device that communicates with the medium processing device, wherein: the medium processing device is equipped with an acquisition section that acquires identification information, including the identification codes, from the media; the medium processing device and/or the management device is equipped with a recognition unit that recognizes the identification codes from the identification information; and the management device is equipped with a counting unit that counts handling frequencies, that is, the numbers of times the media are handled by the medium processing device, on the basis of the identification codes recognized by the recognition unit and a memory unit that stores the handling frequencies in association with the identification codes of the media. |
