Provided are: a near infrared absorbing composition which is capable of forming a cured film that has excellent heat resistance, while maintaining high near infrared blocking performance; a near infrared blocking filter which uses this near infrared absorbing composition; a method for producing a near infrared blocking filter; a solid-state imaging element; and a camera module. This near infrared absorbing composition contains a compound having a partial structure represented by M-X and a near infrared absorbing compound; and the content of the compound having a partial structure represented by M-X is 15% by mass or more of the total solid content of the near infrared absorbing composition. In this connection, M represents an atom selected from among Si, Ti, Zr and Al; X represents a group selected from among a hydroxy group, an alkoxy group, an acyloxy group, a phosphoryloxy group, a sulfonyloxy group, an amino group, an oxime group and an O=C(Ra)(Rb) group, wherein each of Ra and Rb independently represents a monovalent organic group; and in cases where X is an O=C(Ra)(Rb) group, X is bonded to M by an unshared electron pair of the oxygen atom of the carbonyl group. |
