Method for extracting a fuel or propellant through thermal cracking of a heavy oil in the presence of moist hydrocarbonaceous biomass by heating the heavy oil up to the point of pyrolysis of the hydrocarbonaceous biomass, wherein the fuels or propellants are formed, separated from the heated heavy oil and then condensed, characterized in that a hydrocarbonaceous biomass is used that has a moisture content of no more than 1.0 wt.-% based on the biomass.
