The present invention relates to an electrolyte and a lithium secondary battery comprising the same. The electrolyte comprises a lithium borate-based compound of chemical formula 1 or a lithium phosphate-based compound as an electrolyte additive, thereby improving battery properties of a lithium secondary battery, especially, life properties and low resistance. In the chemical formula 1, X, Y, n and a are the same as defined in the specification.
