PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a sheet transport device capable of reducing occurrence of buckling of a sheet when the sheet passes through a guide member; and an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: A guide member 81 is disposed rotatable between a first position to guide a sheet P to a paper discharge transport path 82 (sheet transport path) and a second position to guide the sheet P to an inversion introduction path 83 (branch sheet transport path). A control section controls a driving mechanism so that after a front end of the sheet P to be transported by a pair of fixing transport rollers 52 (a pair of transport rollers) reaches a downstream guide member in a state in which the guide member 81 is located at the first or second position, an upstream end 81b is rotated in a direction to approach a nip line N (tangent) in a nip part G of the pair of fixing transport rollers 52. |
