Apparatus for dissolving a solid (e.g. detergent) in a flow of water comprises a container 1 having a detachable cap 2 and a rotatable valve disc 12 in the base. Water is admitted through the valve and into the mixing chamber 7 through perforated tubes 13 over which can be placed cartridges or capsules of the solid. The valve has three positions: in the first, the water flows through the chamber dissolving the solid and thence to an outlet line; in the second it flows direct from inlet to outlet without passing through the chamber; and in the third the inlet is closed and the chamber is drained to the outlet. There may also be studs and spigots 14, 14<SP>1</SP> to support additional cartridges; the spigots may be perforated.</p> |
