A tyre inflation valve has a metal housing 1 substantially covered with rubber 2 or bright coloured plastics material and housing a spring- loaded closure-member 4 of plastics material, e.g. P.T.F.E. embodying a conical sealing portion. The housing 1 has a recessed part containing an annular seat which extends through radial holes 10 in the housing for attachment to the rubber covering by such means as vulcanizing. The seat is of rectangular section when unstressed and of triangular section when the closure member 4 seats thereon; this construction, together with the positioning of the seat outside the main air passage 13, avoids an accumulation of dirt on the seat.</p> |
