<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new gene 98P4B6 (also designated as STEAP-2), and its encoded protein, and variants thereof, and its uses. <P>SOLUTION: The 98P4B6 exhibits tissue-specific expression in normal adult tissue, and is aberrantly expressed in cancer. Consequently, 98P4B6 is served as a diagnostic, prognostic, prophylactic and/or therapeutic target for cancer.
