A data storage device comprises a sheet 2 of superconductive material and two sets I, II of ribbon-like control conductors respectively lying in two planes parallel to the plane of the sheet 2 and corresponding to the rows and columns of a matrix, the control conductors being of zigzag form with their overlapping portions, such as 114, 222, parallel with each other and with a given diagonal of the matrix, so that conductors of different sets may have substantially identical control action on the storage medium 2.
