PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pump for creating and injecting water-in-fuel emulsion (WIF) in an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: A pump has a fuel chamber which is defined by a fuel piston arranged reciprocally drivable in a fuel cylinder, is connectable to a fuel source in a fuel supply pipe by a fuel inlet duct during a fuel suction period and is further connectable to a fuel discharge port in the fuel supply pipe by a fuel outlet duct during a fuel discharge period. The pump has a water chamber which is defined by a water piston arranged reciprocally drivable in a water cylinder and is connectable to a water source in the fuel supply pipe by a water inlet duct during a water suction period. Therein, during a water discharge period, the fuel chamber is fillable with water from the water chamber via a water outlet duct which leads from the water chamber into the fuel chamber or into the fuel inlet duct. The water cylinder and the water piston are arranged coaxially with the fuel cylinder and the fuel piston, and the water piston is driven via the fuel piston. The invention further relates to an internal combustion engine equipped with such a pump. |
