<p>A system for controlling the propulsion of a goods or material handling vehicle, comprising a propulsion system, a first pedal (16) for driving in a first direction, a second pedal (17) for driving in a second direction, a first device (33), which is adapted to sense the deviation of the first pedal from a predetermined neutral position, a second device (34), which is adapted to sense the deviation of the second pedal from a predetermined neutral position, and a control unit, which is adapted, on the one hand, to receive information of the positions of the pedals from said devices and, on the other hand, to calculate as a function of said deviations, and to transmit, control signals to the propulsion system in order to generate a driving or braking torque. According to the invention, the control unit has a computer unit, which is adapted to assign the status of active pedal to the pedal which is caused to deviate from its neutral position first, and the status of inactive pedal to the one of the pedals which is caused to deviate from its neutral position last, or alternatively not at all. The invention also relates to a method in such a system.</p> |
