A photoelectric conversion device includes a photoelectric converter, such as a photodiode, and a readout transistor having a gate to which a voltage corresponding to charges generated by the photoelectric converter is supplied, a control line, VL, connected to a first main electrode (e.g. source) of the transistor, a readout unit, 120, configured to read out a signal corresponding to a voltage of the gate and a voltage controller, 130, configured to change the voltage of the control line. The readout unit generates a digital signal corresponding to the voltage of the gate, based on a current, Ipix, flowing through a second main (e.g. drain) electrode of the transistor during a period in which the voltage controller changes the voltage of the control line. The readout unit may further include a comparator, 122, and a counter, 124. The comparator detects when the current flowing through the drain exceeds a threshold value and the value of the digital signal corresponding to the voltage on the gate of the readout transistor is determined based on the period of time that this current exceeds the threshold. |
