<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starting device and an engine starting method for compatibly attaining starter protecting performance when an engine water temperature is low and engine startability when the engine water temperature is high.SOLUTION: An engine starting device includes: a starter to be energized to be driven to start an engine; and energization stop means for interrupting the energization of the starter when the drive of the starter is stopped continuously for a predetermined time during starting the engine. It further includes: engine water temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature of cooling water to cool the engine; and determination time changing means for changing the predetermined time depending on the temperature of the cooling water detected by the engine water temperature detecting means.</p> |
