A screen (1) is provided with microcapsules (11) and a base material (2). The microcapsules (11) each contain encapsulated liquid (16) inside a capsule membrane (12). The microcapsules (11) are planarly arranged on the base material (2). The encapsulated liquid (16) includes light diffusion particles (15) for scattering light, and a dispersion medium (13) for dispersing the light diffusion particles (15). In a cross sectional area of the microcapsule (11) projected in the direction perpendicular to the surface of the base material (2) on which the microcapsules (11) are planarly arranged, the ratio of the area of the encapsulated region to the area of the microcapsule (11) ranges from 0.9025 to 0.990.
