The method involves separating book covers (2.1-2.4) from a targeted stack (1) and conveying as individual separate book covers in sequence that does not change for further processes until a completion signal is transmitted. An identifier (40) on each separated book cover is detected. Cover information of the respective identifier is read and temporarily stored. The separated covers are deposited one on top of the other in a sequence in which the separated covers are separated for forming a detected stack (7). The identifier is stored together with the temporarily stored cover information. An independent claim is also included for a device for providing a stack composed of book covers utilized to produce finished books. |
