A display apparatus and method are provided. The display apparatus includes a display configured to display a multi screen, a communicator configured to communicate with a plurality of external input apparatuses of different types, a storage configured to store information about the plurality of external input apparatuses respectively mapped with a plurality of types of content, and a processor configured to, in response to receiving a control signal from an external input apparatus, control an operation state of a screen of the multi screen corresponding to the received control signal, based on a type of content provided on a multi screen. |
