摘要 The present invention relates to a bidirectional radiation detector and a positron emission tomographic imaging system with a bidirectional radiation detector. The present invention is capable of enhancing sensitivity by measuring light using photoelectric conversion sensors attached to both lateral surfaces of the scintillators, and measuring a reaction depth based on a rate of the measured light while bidirectionally detecting γ-photons emitted during a process wherein positrons emitted from medical radiation inputted into the human body, and is combined with electrons becoming extinct; thereby obtaining a more accurate data and image. The present invention is capable of remarkably reducing the number of applied photoelectric conversion sensors, thus simplifying a photoelectric increase circuit unit at small costs. The present invention comprises: a pair of scintillator blocks composed of a plurality of scintillators arranged by a ring form, and generating schillerization when the γ-photons emitted from the human body are radiated while being installed in a longitudinal direction or a transverse direction to be in contact with each other; a plurality of photoelectric conversion sensors converting the photons of the schillerization generated by the scintillators into photoelectrons while being installed in each scintillator forming the scintillator blocks; and the single photoelectric increase circuit unit installed in a surface where the scintillator blocks come in contact with each other in order to share the photoelectric conversion sensors installed in the scintillator blocks, increasing the photoelectrons converted by the photoelectric conversion sensors, and generating electric pulses.
