<p>A super hard polycrystalline or PCD construction and method of making thereof, comprising a body of super hard polycrystalline material 12 with an exposed working surface 14, attached to a body of substrate 10 along an interface 18 and a plurality of apertures or channels, one or more of said apertures or channels 50 extending from the exposed working surface of the body into the substrate. The apertures may be regularly spaced, randomly spaced, parallel, irregular, extend through to the substrate, stop short and be of uniform or variable depths. The construction may comprise a tool for cutting, milling, drilling, grinding, earth boring or rock drilling and may comprise a fixed cutter, a reamer, expandable or other earth boring tool.</p> |
