A method for determining a real rotor angle (Ɵest) of an electric machine, particularly a synchronous motor, including an inverter, that can be used to avoid offset angle errors and thereby achieve higher efficiency and stability of the motor and higher fuel economy of an electric or hybrid vehicle. The method includes predicting a current (i*d), including its polarity, using this information to modify a voltage command (u*abc) to compensate non-linearity effects of an inverter and determining the real rotor angle (Ɵest) from a combination of a calculated offset angle (Ɵoffset) and an angle (Ɵresolver) reported by a resolver. The voltage command is generated and the current is predicted in the dq reference system and transformed to the three-phase reference system. |
