摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device capable of improving the contrast of a projection image without decreasing the brightness of the projection image. <P>SOLUTION: An illumination device 6 comprises a light source device 61 and first and second lens arrays 62 and 63. A luminous flux made incident on the first lens array 62 has a first light intensity portion and a second light intensity portion lower in intensity than the first light intensity portion. A first small lens 62A on which a luminous flux with the first light intensity is made incident is located further outer periphery side than a first small lens 62A on which a luminous flux with the second light intensity is made incident. The first small lens 62A on which a luminous flux with the first light intensity is made incident emits an incident luminous flux toward a second small lens 63A located on the center side of the second lens array 63.
