The method involves arranging multiple feeders (101,102,103,104) along a collecting element (70) for depositing the signatures (201,202,204) on the collecting element which is moved by a drive. The collecting element is provided with a booklet, a trimming station and a disengaging station which is connected with a control unit. An independent claim is also included for a saddle stitcher for the signatures.
