A method is disclosed for identifying an impaired communication line from a plurality of communication lines comprising several steps. First heatmap coefficients are obtained for said communication lines. Then, impaired communication lines are identified from said heatmap coefficients. Then, the heatmap coefficients are split in non-impaired heatmap coefficients and impaired heatmap coefficients. Then, the non-impaired communication lines are grouped into topology elements. Then, averaged heatmap values are calculated for each topology element with respect to said non-impaired communication lines. Then, for each topology element, impaired heatmap coefficients for said impaired communication line with respect to said non-impaired communication lines are correlated with averaged heatmap values for said each topology element thereby obtaining a best correlated topology element to which said impaired communication line belongs. |
