1,149,510. Shielded enclosures. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 12 July, 1967 [5 Aug., 1966], No. 32004/67. Heading B4Q. In an enclosure wall providing protective shielding from radio-active radiations, an aperture is provided in which a sealing plug may be inserted. The plug may accommodate a universal joint mounting for a tool passing through the shield wall. The opening 4 in the wall 1 has a cylindrical sleeve 5, having an annular shoulder 6 between the portions 7, 8 which are of different diameters. The lead plug 10 has coaxial portions 11, 12 of different diameters. Mechanical contact between the plug and the sleeve is effected by the rings 13 and 14 formed of plastics material. A third ring, 15, bears against the chamfered rim 9. The material of the rings has a low coefficient of friction in relation to the sleeve 5. In a second embodiment, the plug is formed of two parts, held together by the rings and houses a tool ball-joint. |
