1,158,639. Ceramic seals. BENDIX CORP. 23 Sept., 1966 [29 Sept., 1965], No. 42665/66. Heading B3V. [Also in Divisions C1 and C3] Electronic components, e.g. thermocouples, may be encapsulated with a potting composition which consists essentially of a water slurry of stable calcium silicate and monoaluminium phosphate. The calcium silicate is stabilized by mixing with a dilute solution of an acid which forms a salt of solubility not more than 0À3 g. in 100 ml. cold water. The Ca silicate may be Wollastonite. The acid may be, e.g. oxalic, citric, phosphoric, or sulphuric, and 2-20% weight acid, based on weight of Ca silicate, may be used. The surface of the treated calcium silicate particles may contain a plurality of Ca salts. The treated Ca silicate particles settle and may be separated and dried. The composition may contain 30-100 c.c. of a 50% solution of monoaluminium phosphate to each 100 g. stabilized Ca silicate. The composition may also comprise Al 2 O 3 , glass, vermiculite, or perlite. The composition has a shelf life of at least 30 minutes at room temperature and a quick-setting temperature above 38‹ F., e.g. 130-180‹ F. |
