<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a drive force for driving a shaft in an axial direction to a small level by reducing friction and a load applied to the shaft for driving a helical spline in the axial direction. <P>SOLUTION: This variable valve mechanism 9 comprises: a camshaft 10; cam pieces 20, 30 externally fitted to the camshaft 10 and rotated with the camshaft 10 to drive valves 6, 7; and a variable mechanism 40 changing rotation phases of the cam pieces 20, 30 relative to the camshaft 10. The variable mechanism 40 comprises: a slider gear 41 interposed between the camshaft 10 and the cam pieces 20, 30, engaged with the camshaft 10 in a manner slidable in axial directions F, R thereof and engaged therewith in a manner incapable of sliding in the circumferential directions P, Q, and having helical spline meshing with the cam pieces 20, 30; and a control shaft 46 provided inside the camshaft 10 and driving the slider gear 41 in the axial directions F, R. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
