<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption while maintaining discharge stability. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a drive waveform generating means generating and outputting a drive waveform including a plurality of first pulses for discharging a liquid droplet and a second pulse for fluidizing a liquid in a liquid chamber without discharging the liquid droplet by one drive period; and a means generating data for selecting a first droplet discharge pulse including the first pulses and the second pulse or a second droplet discharge pulse including the first pulses, but not including the second pulse when the liquid droplet is discharged. When the sum of the application rate per unit time of the first droplet discharge pulse to all drives calculated from input image data and the application rate per unit time of the second droplet discharge pulse to all drives calculated from the input image data is a preset prescribed rate or lower, the means generating the data generates the data so that the sum may reach the prescribed rate by applying the second pulse at random. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
