The invention relates to a method for treating raw water containing hardness constituents, said method comprising the steps: heating the raw water to a temperature above the solubility limit of the hardness constituents; wetting the surface of a humidification material with a surplus of heated raw water; allowing a portion of the raw water to evaporate from the surface of the humidification material while the raw water supplied to said material simultaneously cools; and collecting the surplus concentrated raw water, which has been depleted of the precipitated hardness constituents and reduced by the portion of the evaporated raw water, as treated raw water.
