Mid-handle drill construction and assembly process

A power tool housing assembly (12) including a base housing segment (22) and a cover housing segment (24) generally symmetrical to the base housing segment (22), characterized in that:
each housing segment comprises a plurality of assembly bosses (32) defining a respective plurality of apertures (34) accessible from an exterior of the housing assembly (12), the base housing segment (22) further comprising at least one intermediate fastening boss (36) defining an aperture (38) accessible from an interior of the housing assembly (12); and
a field case (16) having at least one cooperating assembly fastening boss (64) configured for attaching the field case (16) to an interior of the base housing segment (22),
wherein the field case (16), base housing segment (22), and cover housing segment (24) cooperate to form a housing assembly (12) that includes an end cap (26) and a mid-handle grip (28) integrally connected via a bridge section (30) and having a longitudinal parting line (23).
A method for assembling a mid-handle power tool is also provided.
