A phase change ink comprising: an amorphous compound selected from the group consisting of an ester of tartaric acid of Formula I:wherein each R1, R2 is independently an alkyl group, wherein the alkyl can be straight, branched or cyclic, saturated or unsaturated, substituted or unsubstituted, having from about 1 to about 16 carbon atoms, and mixtures thereof; a crystalline compound comprising a crystalline core moiety having at least one functional group and being attached to at least one crystalline terminal group, wherein the crystalline terminal group comprises an aromatic group; an organic pigment; and an optional dye colorant, wherein no one functional group in the amorphous core moiety is the same as any of the functional groups of the crystalline core moiety, thereby providing reduced compatibility between the amorphous core moiety and crystalline core moiety, wherein the reduced compatibility and presence of organic pigment provide synergism as a total crystallization time of the phase change ink being smaller than the crystallization time of the phase change ink without the organic pigment.
