1. A seat integrating a loudspeaker system, comprising:
a seat including a seat body having a horizontally oriented seat bottom and a seat back secured thereto, the seat back includes an upper end and a lower end, the lower end is positioned adjacent the seat bottom and the upper end includes a headrest structure for supporting a head and upper back of a passenger; a loudspeaker system including a sound assembly mounted within the headrest structure; and a progressive compression system for optimizing sound characteristics for both an individual sitting within the seat and those sitting adjacent to the individual, wherein optimized sound characteristics are generated by creating an attenuated sound signal, the progressive compression system including a sound processor, the sound processor monitoring ambient sound, a complete sound signal from an audio source being transmitted to the loudspeaker system, and sound volume desired by a person seated in the seat for determining optimal sound characteristics ultimately employed by the loudspeaker system and the progressive compression system also including a digital signal processor, the digital signal processor acting upon the complete sound signal based upon the optimal sound characteristics to create the attenuated sound signal. |
