The method involves supplying a workpiece (2) that is made up of wood or wood material. Energy is directly or indirectly applied on an upper surface (2a) of the workpiece such that lignin is provided in a material of the workpiece and develops a characteristic on upper surface of the workpiece to be coated. A coating material (12) is pressed on the upper surface of the workpiece, where the coating material is partially connected with the workpiece under the utilization of an adhesive characteristic of the lignin. The coating material consists of material selected from a group consisting of plastic material, veneer, paper, cardboard, and metal. An independent claim is also included for a device for coating a workpiece, comprising a feeding unit. |
