The computer implemented method also includes rearranging terminations at an access node to assign at least one of the identified pairs of digital subscriber lines to a common vectoring group.

A method comprising: identifying a crosstalk characteristic of each of a plurality of digital subscriber lines; identifying a pair of digital subscriber lines from the plurality of digital subscriber lines, the pair of digital subscriber lines including a first digital subscriber line and a second digital subscriber line, wherein the crosstalk characteristic of the first digital subscriber line has a correlation to the second digital subscriber line; assigning the first digital subscriber line, the second digital subscriber line, or both, of the pair of digital subscriber lines to a common vectoring group, wherein the common vectoring group has a threshold number of digital subscriber lines; and reducing an amount of a particular crosstalk characteristic of the first digital subscriber line, wherein reducing the amount of the particular crosstalk characteristic includes modifying, at a digital signal processor, a first signal corresponding to the first digital subscriber line based on a second signal corresponding to the second digital subscriber line, wherein the particular crosstalk characteristic of the first digital subscriber line is caused by the second signal.
