A method for cooperating an operation of a distance relay in an electric power system using a distance relay and a superconductive current limiter respectively installed in both ends of a protection section of a transmission line and having directionality comprises the following steps of: transmitting a signal sensed from the distance relay to an opponent end; determining malfunction in the protection section by comparing the signal sensed from the distance relay with the signal received from the opponent end; and transmitting or non-transmitting a returning signal by determining whether to transmit the returning signal to the opponent end according to the malfunction in the protection section. Accordingly, sufficient malfunction electric current limiting effect of the superconductive current limiter is ensured, and a stable operation of a protection device is ensured, so the electric power system can be protected.
