1. A method for providing content to a portable device comprising:
receiving a playback request for content from the portable device associated with a subscriber of one or more content-provider services; determining a network connection of the portable device; determining if the subscriber is authorized to view the requested content based on the one or more content-provider services subscribed to and the determined network connection of the portable device; if the subscriber is not authorized to view the requested content, determining if there is corresponding content that the subscriber is authorized to view based on the one or more content-provider subscribed to and the determined network connection of the portable device; and providing authorized content to the portable device over the network connection or providing an indication that no content is authorized for viewing if it was determined that there is no authorized content or corresponding content.
