A voltage controlled oscillator comprising a tuned circuit including an inductance L and a pair of capacitance diodes D1, D2 connected by a resistance R1 to a control voltage U st , is characterized by the provision of a feedback path including further capacitance diodes connected to the same control voltage. In Fig. 1 the feedback path comprises two pairs of capacitance diodes D3-D6, and the resistances R1-R5 are chosen so that the phase shift in the feedback path is correct at any frequency to which the circuit is tuned. A capacitance diode D7 assists starting in the lower frequency range. In a modified circuit, Fig. 2 (not shown), the diodes D5 and D6 are omitted, a diode D8 is connected in parallel with D7, and the junction of the fixed capacitor C with D4 is connected to earth through a further pair of capacitance diodes (D9 and D10).
