METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ADJUSTING A PLAY LENGTH OF A MEDIA ASSET BASED USER ACTIONS

Methods and systems are disclosed herein for automatically adjusting a play length of a media asset based on actions of a user. For example, a media guidance application may select a media asset for presentation while a user brushes his teeth. Based on the progress of the teeth cleaning, the play length of the media asset may be adjusted.

1. A method for modifying a media asset, the method comprising:
detecting that a user has begun a teeth cleaning using a user device; in response to detecting that the user has begun the teeth cleaning, determining an initial amount of time remaining in the teeth cleaning based on an initial condition; retrieving a media asset with a play length that corresponds to the initial amount of time; determining a current amount of time remaining in the teeth cleaning based on a current condition; comparing the current amount of time to the remaining play length; and in response to detecting a discrepancy between the current amount of time and the play length, adjusting the play length of the media asset to rectify the discrepancy.
