The present invention relates to a propulsion apparatus for a ship. The present invention comprises: a propeller provided to a rear side of a hull to generate a propulsion force; and a protection device provided to the front side of the propeller on a stern boss of the hull to protect the propeller. According to the protection device, the rear side relatively more protrudes from the hull than the front side. According to the present invention, the propulsion apparatus for a ship has the protection device formed on the front side of the propeller among the rear side of the hull to protect the propeller from external substances and improves reliability of ship operation thereby. |
