FIELD-SEQUENTIAL-COLOUR LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY AND DRIVE METHOD THEREFOR

A drive method for a field-sequential-colour liquid crystal display, comprising the steps of: calculating four pixel grey-scale values of each picture which comprise a white pixel grey-scale value (W), a first colour pixel grey-scale value (G), a second colour pixel grey-scale value (B) and a third colour pixel grey-scale value (R); in a first colour field of an nth picture, providing a white backlight source for a pixel unit, inputting a white pixel grey-scale value (W) of the nth picture to a transparent sub-pixel, inputting a first colour pixel grey-scale value (G) of the nth picture to a first colour sub-pixel, and inputting a second colour pixel grey-scale value (B) of the nth picture to a second colour sub-pixel; and in a second colour field of the nth picture, providing a third colour backlight source for the pixel unit, inputting a third colour pixel grey-scale value (R) of the nth picture to the transparent sub-pixel, and inputting a grey-scale value to the first colour sub-pixel and the second colour sub-pixel to maintain an on state. Also disclosed is a field-sequential-colour liquid crystal display driven by using the above drive method.
