The purpose of the present invention is to provide: glass for chemical toughening, which has low brittleness, low melt viscosity and high chemical toughening characteristics; and chemically toughened glass using this glass for chemical toughening. Provided is glass for chemical toughening, which contains, in mass% based on oxides, 63-76 of SiO2, 0-2 of B2O3, 2-10 of Al2O3, 2-12 of MgO, 0.1-8 of CaO, 14.5-19 of Na2O, 0-3 of K2O and 0-0.5 of Fe2O3, with the total content (RO) of alkaline earth metal oxides being 5-15. This glass for chemical toughening satisfies the relation 15 × MgO/RO - Ro ≥ 3, and the temperature (T2) at which the glass viscosity thereof is 102 dPa·s is 1,600°C or less. |
