Provided are a video playing method and device for a video playing application program. The method comprises: monitoring a current page, the current page being a webpage which is displayed in a webpage control of a video play application program; when it is determined that a valid video source address is set for the current page, acquiring the video source address; and according to the video source address, acquiring a video source, and invoking a player which is designated by a video playing application program for playing. By means of the technical solution provided in the present invention, the implementation of monitoring a current page, determining whether a valid video source address is set for the current page, acquiring the video source address and invoking a player which is designated by a video playing application program for playing relates to operations on a page, so that all of these can be implemented through a browser control, and are irrelevant to a browser kernel, and therefore, the solution is simple in operation and achievement without the need to conduct complex modification at a bottom layer of a browser. |
