The present invention relates to an electric stove and a safety system for the same and, more specifically, to an electric stove preventing accidents by blocking the entire power of a heating element when ceramic glass of the upper plate of the electric stove is broken while the electric stove operates, and a safety system for the same. The electric stove comprises: a main body with a control unit installed; a heating element provided in the main body; ceramic glass provided at the top end of the heating body; and an illumination sensor provided in the main body. By including the illumination sensor, illumination change due to a crack or break of the ceramic glass is immediately sensed, thereby blocking the power of the heating element before the food being cooked touches the heating element and preventing the occurrence of a spark or electric shock. |
