<p>Method of assembling a rolling bearing and mounting a vehicle wheel by means of such a bearing. The invention relates to a method of assembling a rolling bearing, said method providing for a notch (15) to be formed on at least one race (1, 2) between its raceways (1i, 1e; 2i, 2e); fitting the external race (1) around the inner race (2) with their raceways (1i, 1e, 2i, 2e) facing each other; off-centring said rings to form an upper opening (16) via which to introduce the rolling bodies (3) into the internal raceway, positioning the notch (15) in the upper opening (16) so as to form a passage large enough for the rolling bodies (3); introducing the rolling bodies (3) of the outer row into the upper opening (16) so that they can be arranged in the external raceway via the passage; turning the races (1, 2) relative to one another so that the notch (15) no longer forms, in the upper opening (16), a passage large enough for the rolling bodies (3); introducing the rolling bodies (3) of the internal row into the upper opening (16) to position them in the internal raceway; and re-centring the races (1, 2).</p> |
