Friction chain for mechanical transmission. Outer plates 1, combined in pairs, are connected to one another in articulated manner by inner blocks 2. For this purpose, tubular pins 4 pass through bores 7 in the blocks 2, and have their ends securely fastened to the plates 1. Friction bushes 5 are mounted between the periphery of each pin 4 and the corresponding bore 7. Lateral friction pads 11 are fixed to components 9 fitted with studs 10 fitted into the ends of the tubular pins 4. Application: speed variers with variable-spread flanged pulleys. <IMAGE>
