COMPACT CASE WITH CAKE RETENTION PAN

A cosmetic compact (2) has a pan (20) made from a shape memory polymer. The pan defines a reservoir and it has a programmed expanded configuration in which the reservoir has a volume that is large enough to allow insertion of a cake having a predetermined size. The pan has a predetermined contracted configuration in which the reservoir has a volume that is smaller than the predetermined size of the cake and the pan changes from the programmed expanded configuration to the predetermined contracted configuration in response to an external stimulus applied to the pan subsequent to insertion of the cake in the reservoir.
