A toilet tablet contains a synthetic detergent which is a water-soluble alkali metal or magnesium salt of an " alkene sulphonic acid " having 12-26 C atoms in the chain. The sodium, potassium and magnesium salts, or mixtures thereof, are preferred and, in addition, up to 40% by weight of a monocarboxylic aliphatic acid having 8-20 C atoms may be present. The " alkene sulphonic acids " are complex mixtures of 2-alkene-1-sulphonic acids, alkane hydroxy sulphonic acids, and alkene sulphonic acids with a proportion of sulphonic acids of low equivalent weight which may be termed " disulphonic acids ".</p> |
