Method for determining the capability and performance of mobile devices comprising receiving a plurality of images at a mobile device and storing the images in a non-working memory 101. A timer is started 102 and a first series of images is retrieved from memory and displayed on the mobile device 103 and stopping the timer 104 to determine the time taken to display the first series of images. The images are transparent as to not be seen by the user. This is repeated 106 until the time taken to display a series of images is above a threshold or a predetermined number of series of images have been displayed, repetition of the method uses increasing numbers of images. The memory of the device maybe calculated based on the number of images in a series displayed prior to a series for which the frame rate was below a predetermined threshold. The processor capability may be calculated based on the average frame rate achieved for the display of a series of images. The capability of the mobile device maybe used to configure/optimise software for execution on the device. |
