<p>The present application provides a method of detecting nanoparticles in a sample comprising: a. immersion of a substrate in the sample, wherein, if the nanoparticles are present in the sample, at least some of the nanoparticles are immobilized on the substrate; b. analysing the substrate to determine the presence of, identity of the material of and/or quantity of the nanoparticles on the substrate and/or in the sample. A device for carrying out the method is also disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are detected in situ in the environment, eg. sea water, by immersing a cysteine modified glassy carbon (GC) electrode in a sample and detecting adsorbed silver using anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV).</p> |
